North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame
David Sanford

Chapel Hill was Sanford’s hometown when some players from UNC introduced him to soccer. He played collegiate soccer at Brevard and began his coaching career as an assistant to N.C. Hall of Fame member Hank Steinbrecher in 1981. He began an 18-year career at High Point Wesleyan Christian Academy in 1982, where his teams would win nine state titles, while playing in 13 championship games. The Trojans won six consecutive NCISAA state titles from 1990-1995. He was named conference coach of the year 11 times, and was the NSCAA’s National Coach of the Year for Private/Parochial High School Coaches.
